About Us

Our Mission

We are striving to produce the heathiest and happiest dogs we can, whether they compete in conformation, obedience, agility, are therapy dogs, or the family pet. To also preserve the heritage of the white coated German Shepherd Dog that started with the grandfather, Greif, of the very first registered German Shepherd Dog, Horand von Grafrath.

How We Started

As far back as I can remember I have loved German Shepherds. I will never forgot seeing my first one in person. I was 4 years old and a guide dog was leading his blind owner by our house. I was fascinated that a dog could do that. It was then and there that I fell in love with this amazing breed.

My dream of a german shepherd kennel started when I was twelve year old girl. I got my first german shepherd at that time, a female named, Kelly's Sabre von Mills of DB. I showed her in both 4-H and AKC. We accomplished quite a bit. After our first year of showing together, she won 37 times straight in junior showmanship, novice obedience, graduate novice obedience, and open obedience classes. She had three scores in obedience of 199 1/2 out of a possible 200. She was an amazing dog and taught me more about training and showing than any person ever could.

After Sabre died, I got another shepherd who ended up having elbow and hip dysplasia. I brought her back to the breeder after 3 months. I could not deal with losing another dog so soon. All the hip dysplasia problems I was seeing in the breed made me very disillusioned with German Shepherds. So putting my dream on hold, and still admiring them from afar, I switched breeds completely. I owned and showed two wonderful Cairn terriers and a Great Pyrenees I started "Sabremist" kennels with in 1995. I also showed Great Pyrenees and Newfoundlands for others in conformation, and have fostered several rescue dogs including one german shepherd that became a search and rescue dog here in Minnesota, australian shepherds and a border collie.

I will be the first to admit as a young girl I was not crazy about white german shepherds. I listened to the all prejudices about them and thought they were inferior. I found out after 20 years my first shepherd's maternal grandfather was white, making her white factored. She certainly proved all prejudices wrong.

So after over 25 years of training, teaching, showing, and whelping five litters for other people, my husband and I decided to finally make this dream of raising german shepherds a reality. With our kids we started "Anders Kennels." It has been an amazing journey to get here, and I can't wait for the journey ahead for us.
